Rayan Cherki has missed Manchester City’s past seven matches due to a thigh injury. In good news for Manchester City, the French international returned to training ahead of City’s 2-all draw with AS Monaco earlier this week. Pep Guardiola revealed earlier this week that Rayan Cherki was unlikely to return to the pitch until after the international break. But the mercurial playmaker has travelled with his teammates for today’s Premier League fixture against Brentford. Perhaps Cherki could return to the pitch today at the GTech Community Stadium.
Erling Haaland revealed on social media yesterday that Rayan Cherki has travelled with his teammates for today’s match against Brentford. Erling Haaland’s post, which was shared by CityXtra on X, can be seen below.
It now seems that it is only a matter of time before Rayan Cherki returns to the pitch. The French international figures to be a prominent player for Manchester City when he is fit and available. Cherki is a player blessed with an abundance of technical ability and attacking gifts. He is a two-footed player, who can split open a defence with a game-changing pass or with his dribbling ability. When he returns to the pitch it will give Pep Guardiola yet another attacking option to utilise. There isn’t another player in the City squad like Rayan Cherki so the sooner he is back on the pitch for Manchester City the better.
Rayan Cherki could start on the bench for Manchester City’s Premier League fixture against Brentford today. The fact that he’s travelled with the City squad indicates that Cherki could play a part in today’s game. That will be known when the squads are announced for today’s match ahead of kickoff.
