So far this season, Matheus Nunes has done a stellar job for Manchester City at right-back. The right-back position did seem to be a concern for Pep Guardiola’s side entering this season. But the strong performances of Nunes, and the impressive cameo at right-back from Abdukodir Khusanov have shown that City are set at right-back for this season.

Next summer it would not be a surprise to see City move for a right-back. A new report indicates that City are poised to move for Newcastle United’s versatile full-back Tino Livramento in the summer of 2026. While Matheus Nunes has been superb this season, Tino Livramento could be Manchester City’s right-back for many years if City could convince Newcastle United to sell one of their most important players.

A new report suggests that Manchester City will move for Tino Livramento but they will face competition to sign him if he becomes available.

Speaking on the United Stand Podcast, journalist Ben Jacobs has said that Manchester City are ‘adamant’ that they’ll move for Tino Livramento in the summer of 2026. He also said that Manchester United have an interest in signing the England international. Jacobs had this to say when speaking on Manchester City and Manchester United’s interest in signing one of Newcastle United’s most important players: “The beauty of Tino Livramento is he can play on both sides. So, I can understand why Manchester United would like the player. And let’s not forget that Jason Wilcox [Man United director of football] knows him incredibly well. So, he’s a factor in all of this as well.

Man City seem to be the club, speaking to sources, that are most adamant on trying to get Tino Livramento in 2026. But, of course, if they make progress and the feeling becomes that Newcastle might sell, then other clubs will come forward.

If Tino Livramento does become available next summer, it won’t be a surprise to see City make their move.

As Ben Jcaobs also reports, Newcastle United are eager to extend Tino Livramento’s contract with the club. That is an obvious move to make for a club that is looking to solidify itself amongst the upper echelon in the Premier League. But if Newcastle cannot tie Livramento down on a new deal, and he does fancy a move next summer, Manchester City will no doubt make their move next summer.

Tino Livramento is established as one of the premier full-backs in the Premier League. He has shown this ever since he signed for Newcastle United. His versatility to play at left and right-back is worth its weight in gold. Technically, Livramento is a superb player and it’s easy to see why City would be so eager to sign him. Livramento is only 23 years of age, and he has his best football ahead of him. If City could prise him away from Newcastle he could be Manchester City’s right-back for years to come. But that will be no easy task given Livramento’s importance to Eddie Howe’s side.

It appears that Tino Livramento is on top of Manchester City’s wish-list for next summer. The Newcastle United full-back could be the player to slot in at right-back for years to come at the Etihad. Ben Jacobs’ report indicates that City are set to move for Livramento next summer. Whether or not they do, or if Livramento is gettable, remains to be seen.
