Manchester City appear to be in desperate need to sign a right-back this summer. Rico Lewis and Matheus Nunes are currently fulfilling the role in the City squad for the remainder of this season. Both players have their qualities, but despite this, it does seem that Manchester City will move for a right-back this summer. It is just one of many areas that appear in need of an upgrade in Pep Guardiola’s squad.

On that front, a potential new target has reportedly emerged for Manchester City. That is SC Freiburg right-back Kiliann Sildillia. Lucas Arnold has relayed a report from Graeme Bailey for TBR Football that the French under-21 international is a player on Manchester City’s radar. Furthermore, the TBR Football report indicates that Liverpool has a strong interest in signing the athletic young right-back. It is also included in the TBR Football report that Manchester City and Liverpool have had scouts check in on Kiliann Sildillia’s performances in recent weeks.

Kiliann Sildillia is an impressive young player, but when you look at how he’d fit into the Manchester City squad, he does appear to be a squad player over a starter.

Sildillia is an impressive young player. Although he hadn’t yet established himself as a first-team regular at SC Freiburg until recently. He had made 17 appearances in all competitions this season for SC Freiburg and scored two goals. Looking at him as a player he is an athletic full-back and is a tall defender. That height would be handy for defending set pieces and could also be an attacking threat at set pieces. Sildillia is also quick and his pace is an asset in his game. He is a good defender, although he is a raw defensive prospect at this stage of his career. But the does have the ability to develop into a quality defender in the right environment.

Technically, Kiliann Sildillia is good on the ball, and his quality in possession does stand out. That is a prerequisite to play for Manchester City. His crossing isn’t elite, but he can get forward and play in a decent cross. Those skills would likely improve drastically if he was to be signed by Manchester City.

When you look at how Kiliann Sildillia would fit into the Manchester City squad you’d assume he’d be more of a squad player rather then an immediate starter. He is a good young player but for now he may not be ready to be an immediate starter for Pep Guardiola’s side. Perhaps, from a Manchester City point of view a move for Andrea Cambiaso or Jeremie Frimpong, for example, would immediately fill the need for a quality right-back in Pep Guardiola’s squad.
