Bologna FC plays its matches at one of Italy’s most iconic stadiums: the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara.
Like many Italian stadiums, the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara is becoming outdated, and renovation work has been under consideration for several years.
In the past, renovating the current Stadio Renato Dall’Ara had been considered.
But on Wednesday, 30 September 2026, Bologna FC announced an agreement with BolognaFiere, the city’s exhibition centre in the northeast, an area undergoing major development.
The project involves the construction of a new 35,000-seat state-of-the-art stadium with a multi-purpose design. The aim is to host Bologna FC matches as well as trade fairs, shows and concerts.
The area and its new infrastructure will provide efficient access to the stadium: several roads, including a motorway exit, a stop on Bologna’s new tram line, a dedicated railway station and extensive parking facilities.
The new stadium project will cost around €300 million.
Completion is scheduled for spring 2031, allowing Bologna FC to play there from the 2031-2032 season.
The main objective of this new stadium is to be able to host EURO 2032, which will be held in Italy and Turkey. Bologna is one of the 13 Italian cities announced as candidates by the FIGC, with their applications submitted to UEFA for compliance checks.
