A night of European twists: Ferguson scores twice as Giallorossi move to 12 points while Villa, Porto and Lyon climb
AS Roma delivered commanding statement in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday sweeping aside Celtic 3-0 in the penultimate round of the league phase to strengthen their push for qualification.
The Italian side struck early through Liam Scales own goal before Evan Ferguson added clinical brace handing the Giallorossi comfortable win in Glasgow.
Roma had already beaten Celtic 4-0 earlier in the competition at Celtic Park and Thursday’s victory lifts their tally to 12 point placing them 10th in the Europa League standings.
Celtic remain stuck on 7 point sitting 24th.

Aston Villa survive Basel test
Aston Villa earned valuable 2-1 away win against Basel at St. Jakob Park climbing to 15 point and securing third place in the overall standings.
Basel stay 26th with 6 point.
Bologna edge Celta Vigo
Bologna continued their impressive campaign with 2-1 victory over Celta Vigo at Balaidos.
Porto outclass Malmo
Porto recorded controlled 2-0 win over Malmo at the Estadio do Dragao moving up to 13 point, good for 8th position.
Malmo remain bottom of the table with just 1 point.
Lyon claim top spot
Olympique Lyonnais defeated Go Ahead Eagles 2-1 at Groupama Stadium climbing to 15 point and taking first place in the European league phase table.
The Dutch side stay 28th with 6 point.
