This summer, FC Bayern Munich signed Ismael Saibari from PSV Eindhoven. The Moroccan cost around 50 million euros and had already impressed Bayern during scouting sessions and in a head-to-head matchup in the Champions League.

The player’s first impressions have been positive so far. He’s making his presence felt in training, is eager to learn, and is also very aware of his strengths. Saibari immediately impressed in his first Bundesliga match, conjuring up two assists on the field.

Internally, not only the club officials but also his teammates hold him in high regard. No matter who you ask, everyone is enthusiastic about Saibari—as well as new signing Nathaniel Brown.

Kompany sees Saibari as an upgrade

As an offensive player who can play multiple positions, Saibari is essentially a player who was signed as a sort of replacement for Nicolas Jackson, who was on loan to Bayern last season. And he’s already considered a sort of upgrade over the Senegalese player.

According to a report in Sport BILD, Vincent Kompany, Bayern’s coach, is very enthusiastic about Saibari. He also recommended to the club’s management that they sign the player, and his wish was granted.

Kompany particularly values the Moroccan’s speed, physicality, and finishing ability. In addition, Bayern is very pleased with how quickly Saibari has settled in. The adjustment period didn’t take long, and he’s already getting along well with his teammates.

According to the report, there is already a consensus within the record-holding champions that Saibari represents an upgrade over Jackson—essentially a better version of the forward—because, on the one hand, he is more versatile and, on the other, his style of play is a better fit for Bayern. Whether that will ultimately prove to be the case remains to be seen in the coming months, but as we all know, a good first impression has never hurt anyone.
