A Tough Afternoon for Chivas Femenil Against Pumas | OneFootball

It was not the best afternoon for Chivas Femenil. Despite dominating the second half, the Rojiblancas were unable to mount a comeback and fell 2-0 to Pumas on Matchday 5 of the Apertura 2026.

The university side scored both of their goals before the half-hour mark, forcing the Rebaño to fight from behind for the remainder of the match. At the same time, a goal scored by Alicia Cervantes in the 23rd minute was ultimately ruled offside by the referee.

Halftime did the Rebaño Sagrado good, as the team made tactical adjustments and went on to monopolize the dangerous chances. Pumas even went down to 10 players, allowing Guadalajara to pin the Mexico City side deep in their own penalty area.

However, luck was not on Guadalajara’s side, largely due to Pumas’ defensive work. Chivas Femenil must now turn the page and focus on their next match, the Clásico Tapatío, when they visit Atlas at Estadio Jalisco next Friday, September 4, at 8:06 PM.

− In the 4th minute, the university side opened the scoring with Stephanie Ribeiro’s shot from inside the box, which beat Blanca Félix.

− In the 26th minute, Pumas doubled their lead following an error in the Rebaño’s buildup, with Cristina Torres finding the back of the net.

The Chances

− In the 23rd minute, ‘Licha’ Cervantes had found the net after a great run behind the defense, but the assistant referee ruled the play offside.

− In the 35th minute, the ‘Predator’ appeared again with the same formula. She gained position inside the box to meet Montoya’s cross, but her header lacked the necessary direction to find the target.

− In the 38th minute, Cervantes picked up a rebound and immediately unleashed a powerful volley toward the near post, forcing Toledo into a diving save.

− In the 53rd minute, Jasmine Casarez got her head to the ball, only for the goalkeeper to make the save. On the rebound, Joseline Montoya tried to tap it into an empty net, but an awkward bounce sent the ball wide.

− In the 74th minute, ‘Boyi’ headed the ball inside the box toward the near post, but Toledo’s strong hand prevented the Rojiblancas from pulling one back.

− In the 87th minute, Iturbide once again rose to head the ball toward the far side in what appeared to be the 1-2, but Toledo managed to get a hand to it right on the goal line.
