Wesley instead signed for AS Roma last summer, and City focused on other areas of their squad to improve. Heading into this summer, City do look set to be in the market for a right-back. Once again, Wesley has been named as a potential target for Pep Guardiola’s side. Given how well Wesley has performed for Roma, and his obvious ability to play in multiple positions, the Brazilian international may be a player that City focus on signing next summer.

Furthermore, Pearson reports that City are preparing a €50 million offer to sign the Brazilian international. It is also included in Pearson’s report that Pep Guardiola has ‘big plans’ for Wesley if City were to sign him next summer. It is also included in the TeamTalk report that Roma would prefer not to sell Wesley next summer. But if a sizable offer comes in for the Brazilian international, they may accept the bid to help them improve their squad in other areas.

Wesley has shown this season that he is well-suited to playing in Europe.

His game is suited to playing higher up the pitch and you do sense that Pep Guardiola could utilize Wesley’s versatility to devastating effect. Wesley’s versatility does add an interesting layer to City’s supposed interest in signing him.
