Liverpool are reportedly waiting on the green light from Richard Hughes before pursuing a deal. A World Cup star could be heading to Anfield.
Liverpool need a winger and they need one badly. Andoni Iraola has publicly admitted this, in fact, as the Reds lost Mohamed Salah in the summer.
Victor Munoz has arrived as an option but the reality is that Liverpool needed one even before their Egyptian departed. Munoz just isn't enough.
He also prefers the left side and it means he's not an ideal replacement for Salah on the right. But this is also an absolutely terrible market for wingers on that side and we're not sure Liverpool can find the 'right' player.
We do apparently know who they're looking at, though. Sky Sports' Lyall Thomas claims they've made an approach for Maghnes Akliouche of AS Monaco.

Now, that's a strange one as all reports suggest that Paris Saint-Germain are close to signing the player - after all, they do love signing a young, talented Frenchman. Maybe the reality of the approach has come out since, though.
Journalist Jack Lusby claims there absolutely has been an approach - but it isn't fresh. Liverpool checked at the start of the summer to see what the situation is and haven't made a move since.
Which tells us that they're waiting on a green light here. Perhaps that's from the player himself, or maybe it's simply from Richard Hughes as the sporting director decides exactly who Liverpool move for this summer.
Either way, it's one that at a standstill and we wouldn't expect Akliouche to make a move to Anfield anytime soon. If it were to happen, it would mean PSG pulled out of the running, essentially, and it would be a late-in-the-window deal.
Still, perhaps that green light arrives at some point. Liverpool are apparently waiting on it.
