In an interview that was published on ESPN Brasil, João Paulo Sampaio shared his belief that Vitor Reis is the future of the Brazilian national team’s defence. He also explained that Vitor Reis has performed strongly in La Liga this seaon. João Paulo Sampaio explained: “He (Reis) will be Brazil’s centre-back for the next three or four World Cups. This kid is very different. Technically, physically, mentally, as a leader – he is one of the best in the Spanish league in terms of numbers.”

Andrade reports that the young Brazilian centre-back is set to be a part of Pep Guardiola’s squad from next season. Furthermore, Andrade reports that Vitor Reis is set to play a role at City irrespective of what the future holds for John Stones. The England internationals’ contract expires at the end of this season. John Stones’ future won’t dictate the future of Vitor Reis, who is already considered a member of the City squad for next season as per Bruno Andrade’s report.

Initially, I was sceptical that Vitor Reis had made the right move in joining Girona for this season. Girona has struggled this season, and the 25/26 season seems to be a struggle for the City Football Group club. Irrespective of Girona’s struggles, Vitor Reis has had the opportunity to play regular first-team football at a high level this season. Due to this, he is coming on in leaps and bounds as a player. His talent has stood out in La Liga this season. Vitor Reis has been one of, if not, the most impressive young centre-back in the league. His performances have shown exactly why Vitor Reis is so highly regarded at Manchester City.
