Aarhus clinched the Superliga with a 2-0 win at Brondby on Sunday, ending a 40-year wait for the Danish crown.

Midtjylland's 0-0 draw with Nordsjaelland earlier in the day left AGF four points clear with one round remaining. According to L'Équipe, much of the achievement is credited to head coach Jakob Poulsen.

The 42-year-old arrived from Viborg last summer. Under him, AGF have been the league's meanest defence, conceding 30 goals.

Veteran goalkeeper Jesper Hansen, 41, has been a key presence in goal.

It is the club's first trophy since 1996, when AGF won the Danish Cup, for the team from Denmark's second most populous city.

For Poulsen, a former midfielder who played 17 matches for Monaco from 2012 to 2014 and won Ligue 2 in 2013, it is the first title of his coaching career.
