Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou is eager to use the emphatic Soweto derby victory over the weekend as a springboard to guide the Buccaneers to more success this season.

Though knocked out of the Nedbank Cup in the Round of 16 recently, the Soweto giants have already clinched the MTN8 and the Carling Knockout Cup this campaign.

On the other hand, Pirates currently sit at the summit of the Betway Premiership table, level on 41 points with defending champions and second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns.

With 12 league outings remaining amid a heated title race, the Bucs mentor wants his charges to build on the performance they displayed against Kaizer Chiefs for the remainder of the season.

“I think we have to give credit to our boys today [Saturday], they did a fantastic job. We wanted to score early and they did it. I'm not going to say it was easy because we played against a very good team, but the fact that we scored earlier, we put them [under] pressure in the first half,” Ouaddou said.

"It helped us to develop our game and I'm proud of them, and we have to build on this kind of a performance. I can say that for me it's really a reference game and we have to build on that until the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Pirates swing back to action with a clash against an ambitious Polokwane City side at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday (19h30).
