Abdeslam Ouaddou reveals what makes one of the Orlando Pirates stars so special!
Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has singled out winger Oswin Appollis for significant acclaim, highlighting the unique attributes that set the 24-year-old apart.
Appollis has rapidly become an indispensable figure both for his club and the South African national team. His domestic form, which includes two goals and three assists in the Betway Premiership this season, has seamlessly translated to the international stage. He notably found the net in Bafana Bafana's crucial 2-1 AFCON victory over Angola. Overall, his contributions for the Pirates stand at a respectable four goals and six assists from 22 appearances across all competitions.
Ouaddou pointed to a combination of physical and mental qualities that define Appollis's game. "He is a very interesting player with a remarkably low centre of gravity, which makes him exceptionally difficult to dispossess," the manager noted. He further praised the player's technical precision and his intelligent movement, stating, "He possesses excellent technique and has the ability to navigate between defensive lines with quick, subtle touches."
Perhaps the highest praise was reserved for Appollis's footballing intelligence. Ouaddou emphasized, "What truly distinguishes him is his capacity to read the play and make decisions before he even receives the ball. That foresight is a critical and valuable skill at this level."
