Palmeiras could rotate for Sunday’s 11:00 kick-off at Grêmio in the Brasileiro. After a draining night in Quito, staff will assess fitness before naming the side.

According to Nosso Palestra, no alternative side is confirmed, choices will rest on tests, recovery data and training responses. Palmeiras lost 3-2 to LDU at 2,850 metres, then won 4-3 on penalties to reach the Libertadores semi-finals and flew home.

Gustavo Gómez is well placed to return after a Libertadores suspension, having travelled without playing. Khellven and Arthur could come in for Giay and Piquerez, who has been managed for ankle pain. Benedetti is another option, with Gómez allowing either a back three or four.

Vitor Roque came on, scored from the spot and in the shootout, so could start. Ramón Sosa may feature after a muscle injury. In midfield, Mauricio played briefly and scored, and Emiliano Martínez, Larson and Felipe Anderson are options if Marlon Freitas, Lucas Evangelista, Andreas Pereira or Jhon Arias are rested.

Abel will help prepare the team but will not be on the bench in Porto Alegre. The STJD has extended his ban from two to three matches for kicking a microphone against Mirassol.

He has already missed the São Paulo clássico and will also sit out Grêmio and Bahia. The domestic ban is separate from his red card against LDU, which rules him out of the first semi-final with Fluminense. An assistant will lead pitchside.
