Abel Ferreira became Palmeiras’ most decorated head coach after lifting the 2026 Campeonato Paulista. According to Nosso Palestra, the triumph was his 11th trophy in charge.

The Verdão beat Grêmio Novorizontino 2-1 on Sunday to clinch the title.

He moved past Oswaldo Brandão, who had shared the club record, on 10 titles. Vanderlei Luxemburgo has eight, Ventura Cambon seven and Luiz Felipe Scolari six.

This was Abel’s sixth Paulista final in six seasons in charge, placing him among the coaches with the most appearances in the decider. He overtook Tite and Fábio Carille, both on five finals, to take sixth place on the historical list.

It was also his fourth state crown, adding to successes in 2022, 2023 and 2024. He was runner-up in 2021 and 2025.

He now joins the top five for Campeonato Paulista titles, a group headed by Vanderlei Luxemburgo on nine, followed by Lula on eight and Oswaldo Brandão on seven, with Del Debbio also on four.

Palmeiras are next due to face Vasco in the Campeonato Brasileiro on 13/03 at 19:30 Brasília time.
