Palmeiras head coach Abel Ferreira has been banned for seven matches by the STJD after red cards against Fluminense and São Paulo in the Campeonato Brasileiro. He has served three, so four remain.

According to Nosso Palestra, the ruling applies only to CBF competitions, so Abel will be on the touchline on Thursday 16 in the Libertadores at Allianz Parque.

He will sit out Palmeiras v Athletico on 19/04 at 18h30, Brasília time, then Bragantino v Palmeiras on 26/04 at 18h30.

Palmeiras v Santos on 02/05 at 18h30 and Remo v Palmeiras on 10/05 at 16h are also included.

He is due to return for the Cruzeiro match in the league at Allianz Parque on 16/05.

In a hearing on Wednesday 15, his punishment was reduced in relation to the Fluminense dismissal, cut from two games to one, which he has already served. The six-match penalty tied to the São Paulo sending-off was upheld.

Abel has picked up three red cards in 2026, two of which led to STJD charges, and six yellow cards this season.
