Aberdeen sign West Ham United defender Cemal on loan | OneFootball

Scottish Women’s Premier League (SWPL) club Aberdeen have signed West Ham United defender Selin Cemal on a loan deal which will run for the 2026/2027 season.

The Dons announced the news via a post on their official club website this morning.

The 19-year-old moves to the Granite City in a bid to further her development.

Cemal joined West Ham United last summer off the back of spells in the academy systems of Chelsea and Arsenal. The youngster initially linked up with The Hammers’ academy side but went on to make four appearances in all competitions at senior level.

On the international stage, Cemal has represented Turkey at Under-19 level.

After taking Cemal to Aberdeen, the club’s Head of Women’s and Girls’ Football, Nathan Flight said “I am really happy to welcome Selin to the Club. She is a consistent defender who is comfortable playing line breaking passes whilst being a good 1v1 defender. Leadership and communication are key parts of her game, with these skills proving very valuable to our group.”

Cemal joins West Ham United teammate Katie O’Hanlon on loan at Aberdeen this season. The pair will hope to help The Dons push at the top end of the table.
