The Blades have already moved many players on following their relegation to the Championship, and there is now a focus on bringing players through the door.

And, it has been claimed by reporter Graeme Bailey that Bowler is a target, with the attacker sure to leave Forest in some capacity during the summer window.

Sheffield United fan pundit excited by prospect of Josh Bowler joining

Bowler joined Forest in 2022, but he is yet to play for the Reds, with his subsequent game time coming whilst out on loan.

Most recently, Bowler spent the previous campaign at Cardiff City, where he found the net five times in 38 games.

Despite his inconsistent performances in the Welsh capital, Sheffield United fan pundit Owain explained to FLW that he would be delighted with Bowler making the move to Bramall Lane, as he backed him to thrive under Chris Wilder.

Bowler’s had a difficult few years since he joined Forest.

I remember watching him play against us when he was at Blackpool, and he was a real livewire. He was extremely energetic, quick and good on the ball.

In the 4-2-3-1 system he would be an inverted forward from the right, with maybe Will Osula from the left, allowing us to get more bodies beyond the striker.

I could see Bowler becoming an absolutely brilliant signing for us, and I really hope we can get him on a loan deal and to include an option to buy, because I can see him being really successful for us.”

Josh Bowler could impress at Sheffield United

As outlined above, there is an expectation that Wilder will go with a 4-2-3-1 formation this season, which obviously breaks from the back three that has been used over the years.

Clearly, they need to bring in some wingers to suit that system, so it’s understandable that they’re keeping tabs on Bowler, as he does have a decent pedigree at this level.

His form at Cardiff was mixed, but Bowler has impressed in the past, and Wilder will back himself to help get the player back to those levels.

If a loan deal can be finalised, it would represent a low-risk move for the Blades, and it could pay off spectacularly if things click for Bowler at Sheffield United.

Sheffield United would be a great opportunity for Josh Bowler

Following on from that, this is a move that is surely going to appeal to Bowler, and one that he will be determined to take.

His career has stalled somewhat since the transfer to Forest, so you would imagine the prospect of moving to the Blades is going to appeal to Bowler.

He was with a Bluebirds side that were languishing in mid-table last time out, so it would undoubtedly be a step up if he was to move to the Yorkshire outfit, who will be hoping to be in the mix for automatic promotion.

The formation should ensure he is playing in his best position, which is from the right and cutting in. Furthermore, with Callum O’Hare joining Andre Brooks, there should be plenty of creativity, whilst Kieffer Moore offers a focal point, which is something that a winger like Bowler will relish.
