Now headed into presidential elections, Real Madrid has two candidates who propose starkly different projects for the club’s long-term future.
Each candidate comes with their choice of manager, administrators and even marquee signings. Florentino Perez’s dream signing, in that sense, is rumoured to be Juventus’ Kenan Yildiz.
The Real Madrid president, after all, has loved the player’s profile for a long time, but Juventus have always stood firmly against a sale. In fact, the player even signed a renewal until 2030 just a few months ago.
Juventus’s recently concluded season was disappointing with the team finishing sixth in the Serie A and thus failing to secure a place in the UEFA Champions League.

Their sporting director Damien Comolli spoke to the media in an interview where he was asked about how that would affect the club’s transfer plans and whether it potentially opened the doors to big departures like that of Yildiz.
“We will have to sell one more player than expected. We all agree that it is the most sensible thing to do,” he began (h/t Mundo Deportivo).
“That does not mean we will weaken ourselves: every player sold will be replaced by someone of equal or even greater quality,” he added, optimistic about Juventus’ summer.
He was then asked specifically about Yildiz and whether the Turkish youngster could leave next month, and his response made it clear that the Real Madrid target is not considered saleable despite the grim situation.
“Absolutely not,” he declared.

While Yildiz is indeed one of the most prized young talents in the sport, his being targeted by Real Madrid is a puzzling development. After all, the club boast of good depth in the positions he provides ammunition to.
As an attacker with a creative eye, he is known to be a valuable winger who can cut inside and provide a threat and can also play as a second-striker or attacking midfielder.
Los Blancos’ squad, however, is seemingly filled in all the above positions. Further, he plays primarily as a left-winger, the same position where the club have three contenders in Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo and Kylian Mbappe.
