Francesco Acerbi is relying on superstition in the Champions League Final against PSG, wearing the same boots with a massive hole in that saw him score Inter’s semi-final equaliser with Barcelona.

It kicks off at the Munich Football Arena in Munich at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT, 21.00 CET).

The Nerazzurri were on the verge of elimination from the tournament in the semi-final stage, having drawn 3-3 in Barcelona and losing 3-2 at home in the second leg.

However, that was until central defender Acerbi popped up to fire home the equaliser from six yards, using his weaker right foot, to force extra time.

Davide Frattesi turned the tie around in extra time to book Inter’s place in the Final, but that equaliser was absolutely crucial.

When it was noticed that Acerbi had scored the goal while wearing a boot that had torn on the big toe, he decided it brought him good luck and would continue wearing it.

He had left it behind in favour of a new boot in Serie A against Torino, but the damaged footwear was back on show in the locker room of the Munich Football Arena this evening.
