Achraf Hakimi to stand trial in France over alleged rape

Achraf Hakimi, Morocco captain and a Paris Saint-Germain defender, will stand trial in France over an alleged rape. The Court of Appeal rejected his attempt to avoid the dock following a complaint made by a young woman in 2023.

He had been under investigation in France, Le Parisien reported.

Hakimi learned of the decision while in Morocco’s World Cup camp in the United States.

He could face problems later if Morocco are scheduled to play in Canada.

Born in Spain, Hakimi later described himself as an easy target.
