Adam Karabec and Pavel Sulc in Czech Republic’s 2026 World Cup longlist

Adam Karabec and Pavel Sulc have been included in the Czech Republic’s provisional 54-player World Cup list, putting the Lyon duo in the frame for the nation’s first finals since 2006.
According to L'Équipe, head coach Miroslav Koubek, in post since December 2025, has submitted the names to FIFA, with the 2026 tournament running from 11 June to 19 July.
Karabec, 22, is on loan from Sparta Prague and has made 34 appearances for Lyon this season, scoring three and assisting three. He debuted for the Czechs last September in a 1-1 friendly against Saudi Arabia, then earned five caps and scored two.
Sulc, 25, arrived last summer from Viktoria Plzen and is Lyon’s number 10. He is the club’s joint top scorer in Ligue 1 with Corentin Tolisso on 11 goals. Internationally he debuted in March 2024 and has since collected 20 caps and five goals.
The Czech Republic start against South Korea on 12 June at 04:00, then meet South Africa on 18 June at 18:00 and Mexico, one of the hosts, on 25 June at 03:00 in group A.
