The Eagles have been handed a huge boost ahead of a derby outing, but one new injury has surfaced since a midweek win over Millwall

Adam Wharton will feature in the matchday squad for Crystal Palace’s visit to West Ham on Saturday.

The Eagles midfielder picked up an adductor injury in a 3-0 win over Aston Villa in August and was forced to withdraw from England duty as a result.

After being sidelined for two matches, Oliver Glasner has confirmed he will return for the trip to the London Stadium.

He returns alongside Eddie Nketiah, who has returned early from a hamstring injury which kept him from participating in pre-season.

Speaking pre-match, Glasner told reporters: “The positive news is that Adam Wharton and Eddie Nketiah are back in the squad tomorrow. We have no new injuries from the Millwall game.

“Adam is fit enough to start. He just missed two weeks, 10 days, and then he started his training on the pitch, and he has been with us for a few days.

“Eddie is a bit different. He missed all the pre-season, but he looked very good in training today and on Wednesday, when we had a really intense session, so let’s see how the game is going, but those players looked very sharp in training.

“Everyone is coming back earlier than expected, so credit to the medical staff.”

There is one new injury in the Palace camp, though, as Walter Benitez, who saved two penalties in a Carabao Cup shootout against Millwall, has dislocated his pinky finger.

That injury came in training following his shootout heroics, but the Argentine is expected to return in time to face Dynamo Kyiv in the Conference League league phase on October 2.

“Walter Benitez was injured the day after the Millwall game. He dislocated his little finger, and he needs to rest now, so he will miss West Ham and Liverpool. We are hopeful he can come back after the Liverpool game.”

Ismaila Sarr is also nearing a return, and will be back in training on Sunday. Glasner hopes he will be fit to face Liverpool next weekend.
