It seems that the story ends here between the Tunisian and the South Africans.
Additional details on the dismissal of Nasrreddine Nabi from his position as Kaizer Chiefs coach!
The air at Kaizer Chiefs has turned cold with the looming departure of Nasreddine Nabi — a saga now shrouded in tension and confusion over the very credentials that once made him an exciting appointment.
Things came to a head after a painful 3–1 league defeat to Sekhukhune United. The following day, Nabi was called into a meeting. There, he was handed an immediate suspension letter, barring him from leading the team in their upcoming CAF Confederation Cup match against Kabuscorp in Angola.
But what deepened the rift was the reason cited in the letter: the suspension was framed as the first step toward an investigation into Nabi’s coaching qualifications.
The irony is stark. Nabi holds a UEFA Pro Licence — one of the most respected coaching credentials in world football. It grants him eligibility to coach anywhere in Europe’s top leagues, and is fully recognized by CAF for bench duties in its own interclub competitions. Issued in 2017 and valid until December 2026, this is the same licence he used to guide Young Africans of Tanzania to a CAF Confederation Cup final, and later, AS FAR Rabat in the CAF Champions League just last season.
The move by the club has been perceived as puzzling, and it has all but shattered the fragile trust between the Tunisian coach and the Amakhosi leadership. Many now believe the relationship is damaged beyond repair, leaving Nabi’s exit not a matter of if, but when.
