Following Monaco's first defeat of preseason, Adi Hütter and Maghnes Akliouche spoke in the mixed zone to take stock of the pre-season and discuss a visit from Le Havre on Saturday, August 16 (8 p.m.), in the opening match of the league season.
Narrowly defeated by Inter Milan despite their domination (1-2), the Rouge et Blanc concluded their summer campaign with an impressive record (5 wins, 2 draws and 1 defeat). Present in the mixed zone afterwards, Adi Hütter and Maghnes Akliouche took the opportunity to discuss the result a week before the reception of Le Havre in the opening of Ligue 1 McDonald’s, on Saturday August 16 (7 p.m.). 🎙️
Good evening, coach. What’s your take on this match?
We’re disappointed to have conceded these two goals despite having a man advantage.. We showed some good things, especially in the first half, but Inter knew how to react after the sending-off. This was our last friendly, and this defeat should allow us to respond next week with the home game against Le Havre.
Everyone knows his vast experience, which was one of the main reasons for our interest in him. He's an additional reinforcement that will help us secure as many wins and therefore points as possible, starting next week on the first day of the league campaign.
A word on the arrival of Lukas Hradecký…
Everyone knows his vast experience, which was one of the main reasons for our interest in him. He’s an additional reinforcement that will help us secure as many wins and therefore points as possible. Starting next week on the first day of the league campaign, we’re ready for the season, and that’s what matters most.
How do you see the outcome of the match after the sending-off?
Inter are a very strong team that has just played in a Champions League final, and their ability to react with ten men against eleven proved it. Unfortunately, we made some small mistakes in the second half, which ultimately cost us in the defeat.
I'm happy to have scored again, even if I'll also have to be decisive from the start of the competitions, it's important for me. My goal tonight? I took a shot and luckily for me it went in so that's good!
What are the areas for improvement before facing Le Havre?
Score a second goal (smiles)! Le Havre is a good team capable of defending well as a unit and moving quickly in transition. We’ll have to demonstrate defensive solidity while being more aggressive in the opponent’s box. Once again, we’re ready and we’ll give it our all to start with a victory.
We played against a good Inter Milan team, a big European club, even if we could have scored more. Despite everything, we’re happy with our preseason because we worked hard, and I hope we can start this season well. We’ve worked hard to be ready for Le Havre, with the coaching staff doing a great job, so our goal now is to start well next Saturday.
And of course I’m happy to have scored again, even if I’ll also have to be decisive from the start of the competitions, it’s important for me. My goal tonight? I took a shot and luckily for me it went in so that’s good!
