Hutter has emerged as one of the top contenders to replace interim head coach Igor Tudor, who departed the club by mutual consent on Sunday, and save Tottenham from relegation.

The Austrian tactician has been out of work since being sacked by Monaco last October and there were reports that he was open to a short-term role in north London.

Though, in a new update, Hutter has revealed he does not plan on returning to management until the beginning of next season at the earliest, thus distancing himself from the Spurs job - for now at least.

Speaking to Sky Sports Austria, he said: "In the last few days and weeks, I have been increasingly linked with various clubs.

“However, as I already said immediately after my time at Monaco, I fundamentally want to work as a head coach again at the beginning of the new season at the earliest.

“My stance on this topic has not changed since then."

Spurs, following last weekend’s 3-0 home defeat by Nottingham Forest, are one place and a solitary point above the bottom three in the Premier League table.

With seven matches remaining of the season - starting with a trip to Sunderland after the international break - the new Tottenham head coach is expected to be in place before the visit to the Stadium of Light.

In the meantime, Bruno Saltor - who was appointed as Tudor’s assistant last month - will lead training for the Spurs players not currently away with their respective nations.

A Tottenham statement regarding Tudor’s reign which lasted 44 days reads: “We can confirm that it has been mutually agreed for head coach Igor Tudor to leave the club with immediate effect.

“Tomislav Rogic and Riccardo Ragnacci have also left their respective roles of goalkeeping coach and physical coach.

“We thank Igor, Tomislav and Riccardo for their efforts during the past six weeks, in which they worked tirelessly. We also acknowledge the bereavement that Igor has recently suffered and send our support to him and his family at this difficult time.

“An update on a new head coach will be provided in due course.”
