Adonis Frías apologised for the mistake that led to UCV’s early goal as Santos won 4-2 at Vila Belmiro in the Copa Sudamericana play-off second leg on Tuesday.
He misplaced a pass inside the opening 25 seconds, gifting the visitors the lead, and was substituted at half-time. The player said in a post that he was sorry to his team-mates, thanked them for turning the result around and securing qualification, and vowed to keep working to prevent a repeat, adding that the aim of winning the competition remains.
Frías returned to the starting line-up after the World Cup break. This year he has two goals in 25 appearances.
He made seven appearances in the Paulistão. In the Brasileiro, he scored against Bragantino across eight rounds. He also struck against Coritiba in the Copa do Brasil and has featured five times in the Sudamericana.
Signed in September last year, he played 13 Brasileirão matches in 2025. Born in Florencio Varela, Argentina, he is 28. A Defensa y Justicia graduate, he won the 2020 Sudamericana and the 2021 Recopa, later representing Los Andes and León in Mexico before joining Santos.
