Adrien Rabiot (29) has revealed that a number of high-profile players have contacted him to express interest in joining Olympique de Marseille, buoyed by the club’s qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League. According to a report from La Provence, an agreement was reached with Adrien Rabiot (30) when he first arrived at Olympique de Marseille that would allow him to leave the club for free this summer. Marseille will reportedly attempt to convince him to ignore the advances of Europe’s elite clubs, who are still interested in his services and can offer him a far higher wage. Speaking to Carré the France international (51 caps, 6 goals) explained that several “very good players” had personally reached out to him to enquire about OM’s project and manager.“I didn’t call anyone,” insisted Rabiot. “But during the season, players came to me to ask what the project was like, what the coach was like, and so on. With the Champions League now, Marseille obviously attracts more interest – it’s an exceptional place. When you add that competition, OM can rival other Champions League clubs on that level. These are top players who want to come.”While the former Juventus midfielder made clear he is not about to take on the role of a de facto recruiter, he did admit he would be open to sharing information with the OM hierarchy when necessary. “I’m not a sporting director, I’m not the club president, and I don’t want to act like a player-agent. But if I have something important to say to the board, I’ll say it.”GFFN | George Boxall
