AFC Ajax to rival West Ham to the signing of Angers goalkeeper Yahia Fofana | OneFootball

Eredivisie giants AFC Ajax have enquired about Angers goalkeeper Yahia Fofana (24), according to a report from L’Equipe. The Ivory Coast international is expected to leave Les Scoïstes after a remarkable season in Ligue 1, during which Angers defied the odds and reached safety despite a shoestring budget.

Fofana is set to enter his final contract year and Angers have already planned for his departure this summer. Lens goalkeeper Hervé Koffi joined Alexandre Dujeux’s squad on loan. Fofana reportedly does not top Ajax’s shortlist as de Godenzoden want to bring competition to veteran goalie Remko Pasveer. Ajax’s Eredivisie rivals PSV have also enquired about Fofana.

L’Equipe adds that West Ham United and Torino are also monitoring Fofana, but the Hammers and the Serie A side must first part ways with their starting goalkeeper, Alphonse Areola and Vanja Milinković-Savić in this case. Newcastle United reportedly also made their interest known. However, any deal for Fofana could be made difficult by the probable involvement of the Ivory Coast international for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations.
