AFC Bournemouth visit Moneyfields in the National League Cup | OneFootball

AFC Bournemouth head to the John Jenkins Stadium tonight to begin their National League Cup defence against familiar foes Moneyfields FC.

As reported by Bournemouth Echo, this is a Group E tie in the competition's group stage. Bournemouth Sports and Southampton PGA complete the pool, with only the winners advancing to the knockouts and second and third moving into the WNL Plate.

Bournemouth beat Moneyfields 2-0 at home in last season's tournament. The Cherries lifted the cup for the first time in March, edging Plymouth Argyle 1-0 via a direct Kenni Thompson corner.

They finished second and third in Division One South West in 2023/24, then first and second in 2024/25, before Helen Bleazard's side were promoted to the Southern Premier Division.

Bournemouth have started strongly in the Southern Premier season as they push for a second promotion in three years. A 1-0 win at AFC Wimbledon and a 2-1 home victory over Cheltenham Town leave them behind only Oxford United and Fulham on goal difference.

Moneys have also begun perfectly in Division One South West. A 4-0 victory at Maidenhead United and a 5-1 thrashing of Abingdon United put them top with a goal difference of eight.

Jack Randall's side have shared the goals, with Olivia Venditto, Megan Fox and Kaylee Buckingham joint-top on two apiece. Randall took charge ahead of this season. The departing Karl Watson helped establish the women's team in 2017, and the transition appears smooth.

Kick-off is at 8pm on Thursday, August 27.
