Days after the heated AFCON 2025 final won by Senegal over Morocco, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has delivered its disciplinary verdict, handing out heavy sanctions to both sides.

The head coach and several players have been suspended. But the main question concerning the 2026 World Cup was whether these penalties would apply to international matches outside of CAF jurisdiction. That answer has now become clear in the last few hours.

Indeed, the suspensions apply exclusively to competitions organized by CAF and will have no impact on the 2026 World Cup.
