Afimico Pululu on the DR Congo: “It’s an honor and a source of pride”
Afimico Pululu, striker for Jagiellonia Białystok, has put an end to the speculation surrounding his national team allegiance. The 26-year-old has made it clear that he has chosen to represent the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Pululu, last season’s top scorer in the Conference League and author of 10 Ekstraklasa goals, has also found the back of the net 10 times this season. His contract with Jagiellonia runs until June 30, 2026, and the club is keen to extend his stay.
The forward had previously received a call-up from Angola, his country of birth, but injury kept him from making his debut. Since then, he has decided to don the DR Congo jersey, although health issues have delayed his first cap. On Instagram, Pululu declared:
Yes, the Angolan federation contacted me recently, and I thank them for that, but my decision has never changed: I want to play for the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is an honor and a source of pride to defend my country.
He added that he remains focused on his work and is doing everything possible to make this dream come true.
