After years of resistance, UEFA's finally yielded to pressure from Europe’s top leagues to expand their global reach.
The decision (described by insiders as taken 'reluctantly') now allows La Liga & Serie A to stage limited number of official league matches with full points outside Europe.
The move marks radical shift from previous friendly tours or Super cup events to actual competitive fixtures abroad aiming to boost revenues and strengthen the leagues' brands in regions with fast growing fan bases.

While these moves promise record commercial returns, they also spark debate over fairness .. with European fans potentially losing home matches so that global audiences can enjoy historic encounters.
This idea dates back to 2018 when Javier Tebas tried to organize Girona vs Barcelona league match in Miami, only to face strong opposition from the Spanish FA & FIFA.
Now, driven by the economic power of domestic leagues and the ambition to rival the Premier League’s global dominance, UEFA appears to have bowed to financial and legal pressure — paving the way for the globalization of European domestic football.
