One day after a 1-0 win over Santos at Arena Crefisa Barueri in the second round of the Campeonato Paulista, Palmeiras resumed training on Thursday 15 at the Academia de Futebol. The victory kept their 100 per cent start after beating Portuguesa by the same score on opening weekend.
According to Nosso Palestra, players who logged 45 minutes or more completed recovery work at the Centro de Excelência, while the rest worked on build-up play, opening with drills using poles and finishing with an 11 v 11 in a reduced area.
Left-back Jefté, preserved in the derby, featured in most of the work. Midfielder Felipe Anderson, recovered from a left ankle sprain, began his physical transition with Lucas Evangelista and Figueiredo, while Andreas Pereira started conservative treatment for a left shoulder trauma, no surgery, under the Núcleo de Saúde e Performance.
After training, goalkeeper Carlos Miguel stressed concentration from start to finish and said he was busier late on against Santos. He highlighted the need for consistency this season, starting from zero and working for more clean sheets, wins and titles.
He has nine clean sheets in 14 appearances, a 64 per cent rate that is the best for a Palmeiras goalkeeper this century. His goals against average is 0.71 per game, 10 conceded in 14, ahead of other club greats.
He also saluted former team-mate Weverton, who left with 12 titles in 454 games since 2018. Palmeiras face Mirassol on Saturday 17 at 20:30 in Barueri, with the goalkeeper noting Paulistão is a short tournament that demands focus.
