After what has been a disastrous start to his career at Liverpool, Alexander Isak has now been speaking to the media in Sweden.
With Liverpool having lost their last three matches, fans of the Anfield club have been casting doubt on the £130m striker.
With two months of the 2025/26 season gone, Alexander Isak has only scored one goal for his new club, which came against second tier Southampton.
The pressure now building on the striker after going on strike and forcing his way out of Newcastle United, especially as Hugo Ekitike has looked a far better bet for Liverpool so far.
Alexander Isak refused to speak to the media in Sweden when he was called up for the September internationals, the Liverpool striker totally ineffective when coming on during a damaging 2-0 defeat to lowly Kosovo in a World Cup group qualifier.
Friday sees what already looks a must win game for Sweden at home to Switzerland, with two rounds of the six group games played the Swiss are already five points clear of Sweden and with only the top team in the group qualifying for the 2026 World Cup finals, the pressure is also on Alexander Isak when it comes to his country.
The striker’s shameful and unprofessional behaviour when refusing to train or play this summer at Newcastle United, ensured he was unable to be of any use in last month’s key opening group matches, from which Sweden only picked up one point from a possible six.
Alexander Isak has now talked to the media in Sweden ahead of this must win game against Switzerland on Friday night at the Strawberry Arena, with quotes via Fotboll Skanalen – 9 October 2025:
“Tomorrow I’m ready for 90 minutes, if needed.
“It has been a month now and I have got a lot more playing time and things have calmed down.
“I feel in a much better position now than last time [with Sweden].
“Great so far [at Liverpool].
“A great team and a city where the team has a good relationship with the fans.
“There is pressure on us [due to Sweden trailing Switzerland by five points already] and high expectations, but that is common in football, we have the same ambitions as the Swedish people.
