After enquiries, Cacá picks up injury and is ruled out for Corinthians

Corinthians only managed a draw against São Paulo, with a goal scored near stoppage time by Breno Bidon. Although the fans were hoping for a win in the derby, the result was better than the 3-0 defeat against Bragantino, when an alternative lineup was fielded. Defender Cacá, who had started that match, was not even among those listed for the Majestoso.

Because of his absence, questions arose about a possible transfer involving the player, which was clarified by coach Dorival Júnior. “He has an injury. That’s all. He missed training sessions and is working on his recovery with the medical department,” said the coach at a press conference at Neo Química Arena.

With the arrival of Gabriel Paulista, Corinthians placed players on the transfer list, such as Félix Torres, who was announced at Internacional. Cacá was of interest to Athletico-PR, his former club, but the negotiations stalled after his performance against Bragantino, where he started out of position at right-back.

According to Itatiaia, Cacá suffered a strain of the left internal oblique muscle, located in the abdominal region. Because of this, he missed training sessions and is being monitored by the medical department, with no estimated return date to be available for the Corinthians coaching staff.

The defender has played 72 matches for Corinthians, starting in 65 of them. The People’s Team will take the field again on Thursday (22), to face Santos in the fourth round of the first stage of the Paulistão, at Vila Belmiro.
