After the World Cup debacle: Pavlovic is looking forward to the new Bayern season | OneFootball

Aleksandar Pavlovic has apparently put the disappointing World Cup behind him. Following FC Bayern’s commanding 15–0 victory over FC Rottach-Egern, the midfielder is looking ahead to the upcoming season with confidence and is eager to make his mark again with the record champions.

With this lopsided victory over the Upper Bavarian district-level team, the Munich side successfully wrapped up their training camp at Lake Tegernsee. For Pavlovic, the match also marked another step on the road back to his former form, after the World Cup had gone anything but according to plan for him and the German national team.

The 22-year-old makes it clear, however, that he has long since shifted his focus forward again.

“You have to take the positives from every setback.”

After the game, Pavlovic spoke openly about the disappointment at the World Cup and the lessons he’s learned from it. “You have to take the positive out of every setback. That’s what I’ve done. Now I’m just looking forward to the season so I can show what I’m capable of and celebrate successes with the team,” explained the Bayern pro.

The midfielder is building on his strong debut season with the record champions and aims to fight his way back into the starting lineup under Vincent Kompany. However, competition in central midfield has intensified significantly with the signing of Tom Bischof and the return of other key players.

Pavlovic feels ready for the start of the season

The national team player was also pleased with the team’s performance against Rottach-Egern. “We had fun today. We saw that everyone wanted to score goals, and we also made the necessary defensive contributions. It was fun,” Pavlovic said after the 15-0 victory.

The break after the World Cup also did him a world of good. “I had a wonderful vacation with my family. Now I’m in top shape and looking forward to the start of the season.”

Following the training camp at Lake Tegernsee, FC Bayern’s focus now turns to the Audi Summer Tour in Asia. There, Vincent Kompany plans to take the next steps in preseason preparation before the competitive season begins in late August. Pavlovic wants to use the remaining weeks to earn a spot in the starting lineup with strong performances and finally put the disappointment of the last World Cup behind him.
