Davide Frattesi is in line to stay at Inter Milan after late interest from Nottingham Forest and Lazio.

“There was an approach from Lazio, but then Liverpool wouldn’t let Jones go so at the end of the day it all ground to a halt. Frattesi won’t go to Nottingham Forest either. Inter don’t want to be deprived of his experience at this moment and did not want to go any further in talks.” Giuseppe Riso told Sky Sports Italia.

The 26-year-old had been a Forest target through the winter window and at one stage a switch to the City Ground looked close.

Inter had lined up Liverpool’s Curtis Jones as cover, but with the Merseyside club unwilling to sanction a move the plan stalled.

Midfield is an area Forest want to strengthen before tonight’s 7pm cut-off, and three bids for Celtic’s Arne Engels have been rejected.

Forest have added striker Lorenzo Lucca and goalkeeper Stefan Ortega to Sean Dyche’s squad so far this window.

They are in line to make left-back Luca Netz their third signing in a £2 million deal from Borussia Monchengladbach.
