Agent denies Barcelona links with Premier League forward

In preparation for Atletico Madrid possibly not allowing Julian Alvarez to leave, Barcelona have identified alternative striker targets for this summer’s transfer window. One that has been linked in recent weeks is Eli Junior Kroupi, who was one of the breakout stars in the Premier League during the 2025-26 season.

Kroupi scored 13 goals in 33 Premier League matches, which is an impressive feat for a 19-year-old in his first season at the top level of European football. Understandably, his performances have attracted from various clubs over the last few months, and it has been reported that Barcelona is one that has been keeping tabs on him.

However, how advanced Barcelona’s interest is has been confirmed by Kroupi’s agent, Moussa Sissoko. As per Sport, he confirmed to 365scores that no talks have taken place with sporting director Deco, as he also made it clear that “it is not correct to link Kroupi’s name” to the Catalan club at this time.

Barcelona fully focused on closing Alvarez deal

It does make sense that Barcelona have not yet made any move for Kroupi, given that they are still prioritising Alvarez. After the 2026 World Cup is over, they will submit their second offer to Atleti, and given that the Argentina international has publicly expressed his desire to seek a transfer this summer, the hope within Can Barca is that a deal will be reached sooner rather than later.

Atleti are currently not prepared to sell to a direct rival, which is why Barcelona are still waiting to get their man. If it transpires that a move is completely blocked for this summer, there is every chance that they pivot to Kroupi – although they would need to be quick, given that for the man who turned 20 last month.
