Agent denies Chelsea midfielder Jorginho’s links with Barcelona | OneFootball

Since joining Chelsea from Napoli, Jorginho has been linked with a potential move to several clubs, including Barcelona. Even in the last summer transfer window, the midfielder’s future in England was under the microscope.

While speaking to Relevo (via TuttoMercatoWeb) Jorginho’s agent Joao Santos denied the rumours that he had held talks with Barcelona’s Director of Football Mateu Alemany over the transfer of his client. According to the agent, Chelsea is the last club he has contacted for his client in recent weeks.

Explaining that a renewal at Chelsea remains a priority for the midfielder, Santos said,

“I have never met Mateu Alemany. Our priority is the renewal with Chelsea, and the only club I have spoken to in recent weeks is Chelsea.”

Despite getting criticised—sometimes unfairly, the 30-year-old has continued to keep his authority in the midfield for the Stamford Bridge faithful. In the 2022/23 season, the midfielder has made 16 appearances across all competitions thus far, becoming one of the five players to pocket more than 15 appearances this season for The Blues. As things stand, Jorginho’s contract with Chelsea expires in June 2023.
