The agent of Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez says that the Nerazzurri are the “team of his life” for the Argentine striker.
Agent Alejandro Camano spoke to Italian broadcaster Telecapri, via FCInterNews. He also anticipated this Sunday’s Serie A clash between Inter and Napoli.
By now, Martinez has become an absolutely key figure for Inter.
The 27-year-old is the Nerazzurri captain. He has had the armband for over a year now, after having inherited it from Samir Handanovic last summer.
Martinez led Inter to the Serie A title in his first season as captain. He did so as the top scorer in Serie A.
Martinez has also been Inter’s top scorer in each of the past three seasons.
When Martinez arrived, he was still young, and not proven in European football.
But over the past six years and counting, the Argentine has become Inter’s reference point.
Martinez has managed to be versatile and adaptable. He has formed successful strike partnerships with the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Edin Dzeko, and Marcus Thuram.
Martinez’s agent Camano noted that “Lautaro Martinez has four more years left on his contract with Inter.”
The 27-year-old signed a new long-term deal over the summer.
Inter are “the team of his life,” declared Camano.
Meanwhile, Martinez’s agent said of Sunday’s top-of-the-table match between Inter and Napoli that “Inter are a very confident team, and I like Napoli a lot.”
“But I think Inter will always be in Lautaro’s heart.”
“Things are going well for him, but on Sunday he really wants to win,” Camano said.
Of Martinez’s lack of goals early on this season, the striker’s agent said that “Lautaro isn’t just about scoring.”
“He’s a player who facilitates Inter’s game.”
“That’s why he can’t just live for goals,” Camano argued.
“Lauti plays well both around the penalty area and also away from it. It’s not important what people say about him.”
“What Lautaro gives to the team is important,” the Argentine’s agent said.
