Everyone was expecting Inter to sign a new wingback in the transfer window finale.

However, Al-Ittihad and PSV Eindhoven had no interest in selling Moussa Diaby and Ivan Perisic, respectively.

Therefore, the club settled for the arrival of 23-year-old midfielder Yanis Massolin.

Signed from Modena on a four-and-a-half-year contract, Massolin will stay in Serie B on loan until the end of the season.

Indeed, Inter’s decision to let the Frenchman stay at Stadio Alberto Braglia should help him gain more experience in Italian football.

Meanwhile, Massolin has made 14 league appearances for Modena this term, scoring one goal and providing two assists.

“We are all happy,” Le Mee said. “Yanis is completing a journey that took him from Belgium to Modena and now to Inter.

“Many thanks to the Gialloblu club, a serious organization that works very well.

“I’m happy to meet people who work like this.

“With Inter, we found the right project, at the biggest club in the world, which recognized that Yanis has incredible potential.

“He has huge room for improvement in my opinion, and Inter has seen it. The people at Modena behaved very well; they did things properly.

“Yanis is extremely happy, and now he’s returning to Modena for training tomorrow ahead of an extremely important match this weekend.

“He has the right mindset to approach this second half of the season at Modena.

“Hopefully, he will reach Serie A or at least the playoffs and close this chapter with a major goal achieved: reaching Serie A.”

Speaking of Massolin’s qualities, Le Mee said: “Inter does not currently have a player like him on the roster.

“He certainly hasn’t done anything yet compared to the players in the Nerazzurri squad.

“However, we all believe he has the potential to convince the Inter staff and coach Cristian Chivu, who promotes young players without hesitation.

“We brought Yoan Bonny to Parma three years ago, and we saw the development he had under Chivu.

“We are confident Chivu will take care of Yanis; if he does what he needs to do, it will be great news for everyone.

“Almost everyone came to talk about him. Then we decided to go to Inter, which made the best offer.

“At first, we considered going to a lower division to get more playing time.

“But when a project like Inter’s comes along – a project that plays players even at 35 but is serious, with a team that plays good football – we believe he has the ability to fit in.

“Inter is a modern team, and he can belong there.

“For the past few days, he thinks this is extraordinary; it’s hard for a player to immediately grasp the magnitude of this move.

“Now he must focus on Modena, but I have been looking after him for 3–4 years, and I am sure he will continue to do well for Modena.”
