Leeds United were strongly linked with Jørgen Strand Larsen in January, but his agent has hinted at why they may have missed out, as Crystal Palace sealed a £43m deal plus £5m in add-ons.

The Norway striker has one Premier League goal for Wolves this season, with five more in cups, although interest reflected his 2024/25 return of 14 goals and four assists in 35 league games. Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest, West Ham United and Aston Villa also explored a move.

“Things like this are worked on all year round. 365 days. When Wolves are struggling and Jørgen had a brilliant season last year, there are of course many who are interested in hearing what the status is. Strikers who are “Premier League proof” do not grow on trees,” Pedersen told VG.

“Jørgen was clear that he wanted to be in England. At that time, everything else was uninteresting, I have had phone calls with several clubs. Some show interest, others are more interested. Some are dependent on selling before they buy. That is the market.”

Leeds had a quiet window, bringing in only Facundo Buonanotte on loan from Chelsea. Given Strand Larsen’s modest league return and the size of the fee, many supporters may not be too disappointed.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has reached 10 Premier League goals, nine since 29 November, his latest the clincher in Friday’s 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest. Lukas Nmecha is on five, including a 91st-minute winner against Fulham in mid-January. With that in mind, Daniel Farke will be satisfied with his striker options for the rest of the season.
