Lazio defender Mario Gila has emerged as a potential summer reinforcement to Inter Milan amid an uncertain future at the Stadio Olimpico.

Speaking to Calciomercato via FCInterNews, Gila’s agent, Alejandro Camano, refused to comment on his client’s immediate future.

However, the Spanish center-back has attracted interest from several Serie A clubs, including Inter Milan.

With Lazio facing the ominous prospect of missing out on European football next season, Gila could be on his way out in the summer.

Meanwhile, Inter have identified the 25-year-old as a cost-effective signing ahead of an inevitable summer exodus.

Indeed, Francesco Acerbi, Matteo Darmian, and Stefan de Vrij will be out of contract at the end of the season.

Furthermore, Inter have been reluctant to offer them fresh terms, suggesting they’re likely to leave the club as free agents.

“The future of my client, who is also a friend, a great person, and a top player, is essentially the next match,” Camano said. “Along with the aim of winning whatever he can with the Lazio shirt.

“The only thing that matters is the next game.

“He still has a year and a half left on his contract, but I repeat, what counts is winning the next match.”

Despite Camano’s statement, there’s a feeling that Gila is closer to departing Lazio in the summer than staying at the club.

In addition to Inter, AC Milan have also set their sights on the former Espanyol defender, whose contract at Lazio expires in June 2027.

Meanwhile, the Biancocelesti have yet to open talks with the Spaniard over a potential contract renewal.

Therefore, Gila’s exit has become a genuine possibility, though he is unlikely to leave the capital before the summer.
