Over the course of the summer, there has been continued speculation regarding the future of Jules Kounde, and with weeks to go until the deadline, an exit could now be on the cards.

Kounde had a very difficult 2025-26 season, during which he was far below his best level. This raised doubts about his ability to continue as the club’s starting right-back, especially given that he has attracted transfer interest from the Premier League.

One of the clubs keen on Kounde is Arsenal, with Sport reporting that the reigning Premier League champions are “very attentive” to his situation at Barcelona. They are in the market for a centre-back that can operate on the right, and the 27-year-old would be a perfect fit in this regard.

Kounde’s agent meets Deco amid ongoing speculation

Arsenal had been showing strong interest in Ezri Konsa, but with Kounde possibly being available on the market, they are ready to turn their attention to him. Barcelona would be willing to listen to offers for the France international, whose agent was spotted at the club’s training ground on Wednesday for talks with sporting director Deco, as per Jijantes FC.

It does make sense for Barcelona to cash in on Kounde, given that they have Eric Garcia and Xavi Espart to cover at right-back. The money raised can go towards bringing in a top-level central defender alongside the expected signings of Rodri and a new striker, which is much-needed given the struggles that Flick’s side had during last season’s Champions League.

It will be very interesting to see how the situation with Kounde progresses over the next week or two. For now, he’s back at Barcelona and gearing up for the new season, but he may not be at the club come the end of August.
