Scott Bain and Vasilis Barkas could both quit Celtic this summer over a lack of game, according to Alex McLeish.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gers boss suggested Conor Hazard’s new contract may have the shot-stoppers’ agents working overtime on moves away.
As confirmed by the Bhoys on Wednesday, the 22-year-old has put pen to paper on a new two-year deal.
Hazard has primarily played as backup this season and has been on the bench for the last two league games.
He also played five times in seven Premiership matches across December and January.
McLeish has insisted the other two shot-stoppers could now be considering their options ahead of next season.
Asked what Hazard’s contract could mean for Bain and Barkas, McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “You can’t keep everybody happy. Again, football’s a short career.
“If there are opportunities for others to immediately go and get first-team football, and maybe improve their salaries… It’s difficult to keep up with the Joneses in terms of money and stuff in Scottish Football.
“Rangers and Celtic are still high payers. Being able to play for one of those two clubs is everybody’s dream.
“If Bain and Barkas are not able to play then yes, of course, there’s going to be agents working very heavily to move them on.”
Barkas, 26, has featured most of Celtic’s three senior shot-stoppers with 20 appearances this season.
However, Bain, 29, is currently first-choice at Parkhead and has featured 16 times across all competitions.
