UEFA, Utrecht and OL have settled a dispute over Rachid Ghezzal’s eligibility with a financial payment to the Dutch club, according to Le Progres.
Ghezzal played the final 20 minutes of the Europa League opener in Utrecht, a 1-0 win for Lyon on 25 September. He was involved in OL’s goal.
UEFA had authorised Ghezzal to take the field, and Lyon could not anticipate UEFA’s ruling at the time.
Utrecht contested the matter for a long period, but Lyon could not lose the match on a forfeit caused by a misunderstanding by UEFA.
The agreement between the three parties was reached on Thursday.
