Valencia enter a two-week window without matches to accelerate recoveries, with Javier Aguirre overseeing his fifth training session today.

According to AS, Mouctar Diakhaby is closest to a return, having partially joined several group sessions. Tárrega, Copete and Foulquier have left the gym and are training individually on the pitch.

Copete’s case is distinct. The centre-back suffered a knee injury in February, underwent two operations and has not played since, opting for private treatment in Navarra after dissatisfaction with the club’s plan under doctor López Mateu. Previous guidance pointed to an October return and Aguirre, who knows him from Mallorca, could lean on him once fit.

Diego López sustained an anterior cruciate ligament rupture in the final match of last season and will not be back until next year. The club deregistered him for this campaign, with a view to restoring his shirt number in the winter window. His recovery has dragged, but Aguirre’s arrival and medical changes have lifted his mood.

Guido Rodríguez cracked a toe at Mendizorroza, then played through injections against Real Sociedad at Mestalla. Influential on and off the pitch, he will use the international break as a mini pre-season and aims to be at 100% for Racing de Santander.

Since arriving, Aguirre has held talks with several players and intends to speak to all in this fortnight to gauge their state of mind and understand the person. He stresses that rebuilding morale is essential for results and has spoken empathetically about the toll injuries take.
