Ahmed Kantari remains Nantes head coach, yet his position is more precarious than ever after eight defeats and two wins in Ligue 1 and Saturday's 1-0 loss to Angers left the side 17th.
According to L'Équipe, nothing was settled on Sunday. The hierarchy offered no comment on the 40-year-old, who arrived in mid-December, and may still be deliberating unless a successor is being tied up.
In a club that has had 21 non-interim coaches since 2007, a 15-day break now looms, which could provide a final chance to try to safeguard the eight-time French champions.
Around the time of Luis Castro's departure, two possible options circulated locally, Michel Der Zakarian and Pierre Aristouy, though neither the club nor the men concerned confirmed any talks.
Kantari said after Angers that he did not feel powerless and urged the squad to focus on work.
Nantes host Strasbourg on Sunday 22 March at 20:45.
