Ahmedhodzic completes Burnley switch after Southampton interest | OneFootball

Burnley have signed centre-back Anel Ahmedhodzic from Feyenoord on a four-year deal worth around £6 million. The 27-year-old Bosnia international returns to the Championship after a year away.

According to Daily Echo, Southampton were among the clubs to have shown interest and had viewed him as a possible option if Taylor Harwood-Bellis needed replacing, after bids from Benfica and Aston Villa were rejected.

Ahmedhodzic left Sheffield United last year and was also wanted back by the Blades, having played a key role in their 2023 promotion to the Premier League.

He said he was delighted to join, praised the atmosphere at Turf Moor, and aims to use his Championship experience to help the team, adding he is eager to get started.

The defender made 36 appearances for Feyenoord across the Eredivisie and Europa League during last season.
